Iron Chef’s very own, Cat Cora, has launched a new spot in the heart of the Meatpacking district – Fatbird. The new restaurant offers up classic Southern fare that New Yorkers know and love. While we may already have hot spots like Pretty Southern in Williamsburg to give us our fill, we have a feeling that Fatbird is going to be another one to sink our teeth into.
The sprawling space sits right on the corner of 9th Avenue in the center of all the Meatpacking action and can house up to 150 customers. Currently they are only serving dinner from 5pm-1am but after next week will serve breakfast and lunch starting from 7am.
Expect Southern classics at this fried chicken palace like devised eggs, mac and cheese, crab hush puppies, biscuit sandwiches and, of course, chicken and waffles or shrimp and grits. Chicken comes both in ‘classic’ and hot Nashville styles. When brunch arrives you can expect items like their biscuits and gravy served with two fried eggs, avocado and fresno chilis in addition to crispy pork belly and grits and berry pancakes.
