I am a strong believer in setting healthy intentions for myself and my family. Whether it’s a quick breakfast on the way to school or a sit-down meal as a family, our goal is to get good-for-you foods into every meal and get the kids involved. All while keeping things manageable and, of course, fun for everyone. This month is National Nutrition Month and I am excited to be partnering with Aramark to share more on my favorite health hacks for keeping your family’s eating habits on track.
I cook a lot at home but being a busy working mom, it can be hard to juggle a crazy schedule and also find time to cook healthy meals. So I am sharing some of my hacks with you – Spin, Incorporate and Swap! Be sure to follow me on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter for more tips and my Partnership with Aramark for National Nutrition Month.
Put a healthy spin on your family’s favorites. Take traditional tater tots and give them a nutritious spin by using zucchini instead of potatoes.
My boys love to wring out the zucchini when we make zucchini tots! If your kids are older, they can help grate the zucchini or mix all the ingredients together. Let’s have some fun in the kitchen!

Incorporate fruits and veggies even when you are on the go. Smoothies as delicious as they are, are also a convenient way to get in a ton of fruits and veggies into your daily routine. We switch up what we put in our smoothies but a nutrient rich start to the day is always a must for us. Our go to is my Protein Packed Coco-Mango Shake.

Swap in veggies into your family favorite meals. Zucchini noodles, riced veggies and shredded vegetables are a great way to add in nutrients with little effort. You can swap them in entirely or do a partial swap by incorporating a 50/50 ratio.
*Asian Stir-Fry: Swap in cauliflower rice or make your stir fry with a 50/50 split of brown rice and cauliflower rice.
*Pasta Night: 50/50 split of whole wheat spaghetti and zucchini noodles.
*Add shredded zucchini and carrots to meatballs, burgers, pancakes, bread... really anything at all!
June is here and I am excited to celebrate my love, my life, everyone in the LGBTQ community and the milestones of change we celebrate during Pride Month. Over the years, I have seen the people in my life and across the globe become more inclusive and tolerant. No matter who you love, how you look or what you believe - we should all be able to live in a world full of love and without judgement or shame.
Spring is here all across the country and that means Farmers Markets will be popping up in everyone’s city and town. I am fortunate to live in California where farmers markets are accessible year-round but I never take for granted our access to fresh, a variety of in-season and local produce. Not only does it taste better when cooking and eating, it also has the fullest nutritional value. Did you also know you’re contributing to your local economy when you purchase from your local farmers markets? Farmers Markets return more than three times as much of their sales to the local economy compared to chain stores.
