Spin, Incorporate and Swap!

Spin, Incorporate and Swap!

I am a strong believer in setting healthy intentions for myself and my family. Whether it’s a quick breakfast on the way to school or a sit-down meal as a family, our goal is to get good-for-you foods into every meal and get the kids involved. All while keeping things manageable and, of course, fun for everyone. This month is National Nutrition Month and I am excited to be partnering with Aramark to share more on my favorite health hacks for keeping your family’s eating habits on track.
I cook a lot at home but being a busy working mom, it can be hard to juggle a crazy schedule and also find time to cook healthy meals. So I am sharing some of my hacks with you – Spin, Incorporate and Swap! Be sure to follow me on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter for more tips and my Partnership with Aramark for National Nutrition Month.

Put a healthy spin on your family’s favorites. Take traditional tater tots and give them a nutritious spin by using zucchini instead of potatoes.
My boys love to wring out the zucchini when we make zucchini tots! If your kids are older, they can help grate the zucchini or mix all the ingredients together. Let’s have some fun in the kitchen!

Incorporate fruits and veggies even when you are on the go. Smoothies as delicious as they are, are also a convenient way to get in a ton of fruits and veggies into your daily routine. We switch up what we put in our smoothies but a nutrient rich start to the day is always a must for us. Our go to is my Protein Packed Coco-Mango Shake

Swap in veggies into your family favorite meals. Zucchini noodles, riced veggies and shredded vegetables are a great way to add in nutrients with little effort. You can swap them in entirely or do a partial swap by incorporating a 50/50 ratio.

*Asian Stir-Fry: Swap in cauliflower rice or make your stir fry with a 50/50 split of brown rice and cauliflower rice.

*Pasta Night: 50/50 split of whole wheat spaghetti and zucchini noodles.

*Add shredded zucchini and carrots to meatballs, burgers, pancakes, bread... really anything at all!

At 15 years old, I was unsure about many things. I was trying to figure out my sense of fashion, navigate high school and work on my self confidence. The only thing I was sure of was that I wanted to become a chef and open a restaurant.

In case you missed it, National Taco Day was last friday on Oct 4th. What better way to celebrate than to get in the kitchen and cook up some tasty tacos! Like many of you, I'm obsessed with tacos.  I could eat them every single day and live a very happy life. Soft tortilla, crunchy tortilla, fish taco, chicken taco...I love them all!
